Summary
CVE-2023-37557 is a recently disclosed vulnerability affecting multiple versions of Codesys products. Successful authentication as a user allows an attacker to send crafted remote communication requests that trigger the CmpAppBP component to overwrite a heap-based buffer. This issue results in a denial-of-service condition, preventing legitimate users from accessing the affected system. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted packets to the targeted system, potentially causing it to crash or become unresponsive. Updating to the latest version of Codesys is recommended to mitigate this risk.
