Summary

CVE-2023-37464 is a vulnerability in the OpenIDC/cjose C library, which implements the Javascript Object Signing and Encryption (JOSE) standard. The bug allows an attacker to provide a truncated Authentication Tag and modify the JWE (JSON Web Encryption) accordingly. This vulnerability affects users of OpenIDC/cjose library versions below 0.6.2.2. To remediate this issue, users should upgrade to version 0.6.2.2 or higher. If upgrading is not possible, it is recommended to avoid using AES GCM encryption and replace it with another encryption algorithm, such as AES CBC. This vulnerability has a base severity rating of HIGH, with an exploitability score of 3.9 out of 10, and poses a potential risk to the integrity of affected systems but does not impact confidentiality or availability.
