Summary

CVE-2023-37277 is a cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in XWiki Platform, affecting various versions of the product. The vulnerability allows for remote code execution through script macros, compromising the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of the entire XWiki installation. The vulnerability can be mitigated for cookie-based authentication by enabling SameSite cookie restrictions, although this is not enabled by default in Firefox and Safari as of March 2023. The issue has been patched in XWiki versions 14.10.8 and 15.2 by requiring a CSRF token header for certain vulnerable request types to prevent CSRF attacks.
