Summary
CVE-2023-36891 is a new vulnerability affecting Microsoft SharePoint Servers. This issue allows an attacker to perform spoofing attacks, impersonating other users and potentially gaining unauthorized access to sensitive information. The vulnerability exists due to insufficient input validation in the SharePoint web interface. An attacker can exploit this by crafting a malicious URL that can trick users into believing they are accessing a legitimate SharePoint site, when in fact they are handing over their credentials to the attacker. This can lead to data theft and other malicious activities. Microsoft has released a patch to address this vulnerability, and it is recommended that all SharePoint servers be updated as soon as possible to protect against this threat.
