Summary

CVE-2023-36819 is a vulnerability that affects the Knowage open source suite for business analytics. In versions prior to 8.1.8, an authenticated user can exploit a flaw in the `_templateName_` parameter of the `/knowage/restful-services/dossier/importTemplateFile` endpoint. By using `*../*`, an attacker can escape the directory where templates are stored and download any file from the system, including sensitive configuration files. The vulnerability has been patched in Knowage version 8.1.8. This vulnerability has a CVSS score of 6.5 (medium) and poses a potential danger to organizations as it allows low privileged attackers to exfiltrate sensitive information from the system.
