Details
Summary
CVE-2023-36462 is a vulnerability affecting Mastodon, an open-source social network server. In versions 2.6.0 and prior to 3.5.9, 4.0.5, and 4.1.3, a crafted verified profile link with specific formatting can conceal parts of the actual URL. This visual deception can lead users to believe they are clicking on one link, while actually accessing another. Although it may not directly execute malicious code, this vulnerability can be exploited for phishing attacks, similar to IDN homograph attacks. Versions 3.5.9, 4.0.5, and 4.1.3 have been patched to mitigate this issue.
