Summary
CVE-2023-36460 is a vulnerability affecting the open-source social network server Mastodon, starting from version 3.5.0 and prior to 3.5.9, 4.0.5, and 4.1.3. Malicious media files can manipulate Mastodon's media processing code, enabling attackers to create and overwrite arbitrary files on the server. This vulnerability poses a significant risk for Denial of Service and Remote Code Execution attacks. Version 3.5.9, 4.0.5, and 4.1.3 have been patched to address this issue.
