Summary

CVE-2023-35948 is an open redirect vulnerability that affects versions prior to 0.16.0 of Novu, an API for sending notifications through multiple channels. This vulnerability specifically impacts the "Sign In with GitHub" functionality of Novu's open-source repository. If a user manually enabled the GitHub OAuth on their self-hosted instance of Novu, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to force a victim into opening a malicious URL, potentially gaining full control of the victim's account. To remediate this issue, users should upgrade to version 0.16.0 of Novu, which includes a patch for this vulnerability. The potential danger this vulnerability poses to organizations is that it allows attackers to compromise user accounts and potentially gain unauthorized access to sensitive information or perform malicious actions on behalf of the victim.
