Summary
CVE-2023-35853 is a vulnerability affecting Suricata versions prior to 6.0.13. It enables an attacker to execute Lua code when they control an external source of Lua rules. This issue is resolved in version 6.0.13 by disabling Lua unless the "allow-rules" option is enabled within the security Lua configuration section. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as it allows unauthorized script execution, potentially leading to system compromise.
