Summary

CVE-2023-35818 is a vulnerability found on Espressif ESP32 3.0 devices. This vulnerability allows an attacker to influence the PC value at the CPU context level, regardless of Secure Boot and Flash Encryption status, through an electromagnetic fault injection (EMFI) attack on ECO3. By exploiting this capability, the attacker can gain unauthorized access to the ROM download mode. This access can then be further exploited to read encrypted flash content in cleartext format or execute stub code. The vulnerability affects various products in the tz88u range. The severity of the vulnerability is rated as medium, with a base score of 6.8 out of 10, and it poses a high risk to confidentiality, integrity, and availability of affected organizations' systems. It has not been assigned a fix or patch at this time.
