Summary
CVE-2023-3550 is a vulnerability affecting Mediawiki v1.40.0. malicious actors can exploit this issue by uploading malicious XML files. The validation of namespaces in these files is insufficient, enabling a low-privileged user to gain administrative access. This exploit can be executed by sending a malicious link to the instance administrator. Consequently, it's crucial for Mediawiki administrators to prevent XML file uploads or update their software to a patched version to mitigate this risk.
