Summary

CVE-2023-35163 is a vulnerability in Vega, a decentralized trading platform for derivatives on a blockchain. Prior to version 0.71.6, a malicious validator can exploit this vulnerability to manipulate past Ethereum events from Vega's Ethereum bridge. This can result in unauthorized funds being credited to an account multiple times without any additional deposits. The exploit requires access to a validator's Vega key, which can be obtained at the cost of 3000VEGA. The vulnerability is remediated in version 0.71.6, and there are monitoring alerts in place for early detection. The potential danger lies in the unauthorized accumulation of funds, posing financial risks to organizations using the affected versions of Vega.
