Details
Summary
CVE-2023-3485 is a vulnerability affecting the open-source Temporal Server before version 1.20 on all platforms. This issue arises due to insecure defaults, enabling an attacker to create a malicious task token that grants access to a namespace other than the intended one. The creation of this token occurs outside of the normal Temporal server flow, requiring the namespace UUID and historical data from the target namespace. Consequently, an attacker can manipulate pending tasks in other namespaces, causing tasks to be marked as failed or completed unintentionally. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as it requires the same data converter configuration in both the initial and target namespaces for the attack to succeed.
