Summary

CVE-2023-34795 is a newly identified vulnerability affecting the xlsxio library, specifically versions 0.1.2 to 0.2.34. This issue stems from an uninitialized pointer in the xlsxioread_sheetlist_close() function. Maliciously crafted XLSX files can exploit this vulnerability, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Attackers can trigger the vulnerability by supplying a specially crafted file to the targeted system, resulting in an application crash or resource consumption, thereby causing a DoS. Users are advised to update to the latest version of xlsxio as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
