Summary

CVE-2023-34465 is a vulnerability in the XWiki Platform, affecting versions 11.8-rc-1 to 14.4.8, 14.10.6, and 15.2. The vulnerability allows any logged-in user to modify the `Mail.MailConfig`, enabling them to change mail configuration and access sensitive information such as smtp domain name and credentials. The issue has been patched in XWiki versions 14.4.8, 14.10.6, and 15.1. To mitigate the vulnerability, the rights of the `Mail.MailConfig` page can be manually updated to restrict access only to trusted users (e.g., `XWiki.XWikiAdminGroup`). This vulnerability poses a high risk as it could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive email information and potentially compromise an organization's confidentiality and integrity of communications.
