Summary

CVE-2023-34046 is a TOCTOU vulnerability found in VMware Fusion versions 13.x prior to 13.5. The vulnerability occurs during the initial installation or when upgrading the application. A local non-administrative user can exploit this vulnerability to escalate privileges to root on the system where Fusion is installed or being installed for the first time. The affected products include VMware Fusion versions 13.x prior to 13.5. To remediate this vulnerability, users should update their VMware Fusion installations to version 13.5 or later. This vulnerability poses a medium-level danger as it allows unauthorized access and privilege escalation within the affected system.
