Summary

CVE-2023-3389 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux Kernel io_uring subsystem, allowing for local privilege escalation. This vulnerability can be exploited by racing an io_uring cancel poll request with a linked timeout, resulting in a use-after-free (UAF) condition in a hrtimer. The recommended remediation is to upgrade to the specified commit versions for each stable release. This vulnerability poses a high risk to organizations as it allows an attacker with low privileges to escalate their privileges and potentially gain unauthorized access to sensitive information or perform malicious activities on affected systems.
