Summary

CVE-2023-33876 is a use-after-free vulnerability that affects Foxit Reader 12.1.2.15332. The vulnerability occurs when handling the destruction of annotations in the software. A specially crafted Javascript code within a malicious PDF document can trigger the reuse of a previously freed object, leading to memory corruption and potential arbitrary code execution. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would need to trick a user into opening the malicious file or visiting a specially crafted malicious site with the browser plugin extension enabled. This vulnerability poses a high risk to organizations as it allows for remote code execution and can potentially compromise user confidentiality, integrity, and availability of affected systems.
