Summary
CVE-2023-3385 is a vulnerability affecting GitLab versions 8.10 before 16.0.8, 16.1 before 16.1.3, and 16.2 before 16.2.2. In these versions, a user importing a project could gain unauthorized access to unrelated files by uploading a specially crafted file during the import process. This issue stems from a bug in the `tar` utility, which has since been fixed in version 1.35. This vulnerability could potentially expose sensitive data to unintended users. Users are strongly encouraged to update their GitLab instances to the latest version to mitigate this risk.
