Summary
CVE-2023-3364 is a vulnerability affecting GitLab CE/EE versions 8.14 before 16.0.8, 16.1 before 16.1.3, and 16.2 before 16.2.2. This issue allows an attacker to launch a Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) attack. By crafting specific payloads, an attacker could exploit the AutolinkFilter in the preview_markdown endpoint, causing the GitLab server to consume excessive resources and potentially crash. This vulnerability may result in denial of service and could be used to disrupt GitLab services. Users are advised to update to the affected versions' patched releases to mitigate this risk.
