Summary

CVE-2023-30586 is a privilege escalation vulnerability in Node.js 20. The vulnerability allows for the loading of arbitrary OpenSSL engines when the experimental permission model is enabled, which can bypass and disable the permission model. The attack complexity is high, but it can be exploited using the crypto.setEngine() API with a compatible OpenSSL engine to bypass the permission model. This vulnerability affects multiple products, including sqnDeH, sqnDeG, r8e1ND, and r9QOWd. It poses a high risk to organizations as it can lead to unauthorized access and manipulation of sensitive data.
