Summary

CVE-2023-2982 is a vulnerability affecting the WordPress Social Login and Register (Discord, Google, Twitter, LinkedIn) plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 7.6.4. The vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to bypass authentication and log in as any existing user on the site if they know the associated email address. Insufficient encryption on the user being supplied during login validation through the plugin is responsible for this vulnerability. The issue was partially patched in version 7.6.4 and fully patched in version 7.6.5. This vulnerability poses a high risk to organizations as it could allow unauthorized access to sensitive user accounts, potentially leading to data breaches or unauthorized actions within the website or application utilizing the vulnerable plugin.
