Summary
CVE-2023-28557 is a newly identified memory corruption vulnerability affecting the WLAN High-level Application Programming Interface (HAL) in certain wireless networking devices. This issue arises when the WLAN HAL processes command parameters from untrusted WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) payloads. An attacker who successfully exploits this vulnerability could gain control over an affected device's memory, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution with elevated privileges. Wireless network administrators are strongly advised to apply the necessary patches or updates to mitigate this risk.
