Summary

CVE-2023-2728 is a vulnerability that affects Kubernetes clusters using the ServiceAccount admission plugin and the `kubernetes.io/enforce-mountable-secrets` annotation together with ephemeral containers. This vulnerability allows users to launch containers that bypass the mountable secrets policy enforced by the plugin. The policy is designed to ensure that pods running with a service account can only reference secrets specified in the service account's secrets field. The potential danger posed by this vulnerability is high, as it allows unauthorized access to sensitive information stored in secrets. To remediate this vulnerability, organizations should update their Kubernetes clusters to a version that includes the necessary patches.
