Summary
CVE-2023-26966 is a new vulnerability affecting libtiff version 4.5.0. If a user opens a maliciously crafted little-endian TIFF file with this library and specifies the output format as big-endian, it can result in a buffer overflow in the uv_encode() function. An attacker could exploit this flaw to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial-of-service condition. Users are advised to update to the latest version of libtiff to mitigate this risk.
