Summary
CVE-2023-26045 affects NodeBB, a Node.js-based forum software. In versions 2.5.0 through 2.8.6, a path traversal vulnerability interacts with the use of object destructuring assignment syntax in the user export code path. This combination enables an attacker to execute arbitrary javascript files on the local disk by triggering the user export logic. The issue is addressed in version 2.8.7. As a temporary measure, site administrators can apply the patch manually to mitigate the risk.
