Summary

CVE-2023-2517 is a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability found in the Metform Elementor Contact Form Builder plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 3.3.2. This vulnerability arises due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the permalink_setup function. Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this vulnerability by tricking a site administrator into performing an action, such as clicking on a link, allowing them to change the permalink structure via a forged request. Although nonce verification is implemented, it only occurs when a nonce is provided. The affected products include various versions of mmOpe, qTCiM, mmOpfj, sCvi3n, sCvi3p, and other related modules. Remediation for this vulnerability involves updating the Metform Elementor Contact Form Builder plugin to version 3.3.3 or later. The potential danger posed by this vulnerability includes unauthorized changes to the permalink structure of affected WordPress sites by malicious actors, potentially leading to various malicious activities or unauthorized access within an organization's infrastructure.
