Summary

CVE-2023-2440 is a vulnerability in the UserPro plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 5.1.1. The vulnerability, categorized as Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF), arises due to missing nonce validation in certain functions. This flaw enables unauthenticated attackers to manipulate the role of verified users and elevate their privileges, potentially granting them the same level of access as an administrator. The vulnerability can be exploited by tricking a site administrator into performing an action, such as clicking on a malicious link. The affected products include various versions of UserPro and TZUL plugins.
