Summary
CVE-2023-21406 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting the AXIS A1001 device when communicating over Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP). Researchers Ariel Harush and Roy Hodir from OTORIO identified a heap-based buffer overflow in the pacsiod process responsible for handling OSDP communication. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by appending invalid data to an OSDP message, enabling them to write data beyond the heap-allocated buffer. This data could potentially be used to execute arbitrary code. For further details, including affected products and software versions, mitigation strategies, and contact information, please refer to the Axis security advisory.
