Summary
CVE-2023-20897 is a denial-of-service (DoS) vulnerability affecting Salt masters, specifically versions prior to 3005.2 and 3006.2. This issue arises due to the minion return process, where the master becomes unresponsive to return requests upon receiving a certain number of malformed packets on the request server. The impact of this vulnerability is that the master becomes unresponsive, requiring a restart to rectify the issue.
