Summary
CVE-2023-20236 is a vulnerability affecting the iPXE boot function in Cisco IOS XR software. This issue permits authenticated, local attackers to install unverified software images on susceptible devices. The root cause is insufficient image verification, which enables an adversary to manipulate boot parameters for image verification during the iPXE boot process. A successful exploit could lead to the execution of an unauthenticated and potentially malicious software image on the affected device.
