Details
Summary
CVE-2023-20194 is a vulnerability affecting the Extensible Reporting System (ERS) API in Cisco ISE. This issue allows authenticated, remote attackers to read arbitrary files on the underlying operating system of an affected device if they have valid Administrator-level privileges. The vulnerability stems from insufficient privilege management in the ERS API. An attacker can exploit this weakness by sending a specially crafted request to the device. A successful exploit would enable the attacker to gain elevated privileges, allowing them to access sensitive information beyond their intended access level. The ERS API is not enabled by default, and its status can be checked in the Admin GUI under Administration > Settings > API Settings > API Service Settings.
