Summary

CVE-2023-20041 is a vulnerability that affects the web-based management interface of Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC) Software. It allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to conduct a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attack against a user of the interface. This vulnerability occurs due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input by the web-based management interface. An attacker can exploit this by inserting crafted input into various data fields, which may lead to the execution of arbitrary script code or access to sensitive information. It can also cause temporary availability issues to parts of the FMC Dashboard. The vulnerability has a base severity rating of MEDIUM and requires user interaction for exploitation, with low impacts on integrity and confidentiality.
