Summary

CVE-2023-1437, also known as Advantech WebAccess/SCADA vulnerability, affects all versions prior to 9.1.4 of the software. This vulnerability allows for the use of untrusted pointers, where the RPC (Remote Procedure Call) arguments sent by a client could contain raw memory pointers for the server to use as-is. As a result, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain unauthorized access to the remote file system, execute commands, and overwrite files. The affected products include hTph3v, ji_OCg, hYTcSg, ji_OCh, eh-dLY, hYTcSd, hYTcSc, hYTcSf, hYTcSe, and hYTcSb. It is crucial for organizations using Advantech WebAccess/SCADA to update their software to version 9.1.4 or later in order to remediate this vulnerability and mitigate the potential risks it poses.
