Summary

CVE-2023-1386 is a vulnerability affecting the 9p passthrough filesystem (9pfs) implementation in QEMU. The flaw allows local users in the guest to write executable files with SUID or SGID, which are not correctly dropped. In rare circumstances, this vulnerability can be exploited by malicious users in the guest to elevate their privileges within the guest and potentially help a host local user to elevate privileges on the host.
