Details
Summary
CVE-2021-4402 is a Cross-Site Request Forgery vulnerability affecting the Multiple Roles plugin for WordPress. Versions up to and including 1.3.1 are vulnerable due to insufficient nonce validation in the mu_add_roles_in_signup_meta() and mu_add_roles_in_signup_meta_recently() functions. This issue allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate user roles by forging requests, which can be executed if a site administrator performs a specific action, such as clicking on a malicious link. The vulnerability poses a significant risk as it can lead to unintended role assignments and potential unauthorized access to sensitive information. WordPress users are urged to update the Multiple Roles plugin to the latest version as soon as possible to mitigate this threat.
