Summary
CVE-2020-3259 is a vulnerability affecting the web services interface of Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software. This issue allows unauthenticated, remote attackers to retrieve memory contents on an affected device, potentially disclosing confidential information. The vulnerability arises from a buffer tracking problem when the software processes invalid URLs sent to the web services interface. An adversary can exploit this defect by crafting a malicious GET request to the interface. Successful exploitation could result in the disclosure of sensitive information.
