Map of Planned Power Plant Developments in Africa
The blog Researching on African States posted an impressive map of power plants in Africa constructed since 2006 complete with a proportional depiction of each plants energy output. You can check out the interactive map hosted at the open data and maps community GeoCommons.
Given the recent attack in Algeria against a natural gas plant owned by Amenas, we thought a valuable complement to the existing power plant map for security analysts would be an additional view of plans for power plant construction, groundbreaking, and openings expected to take place across Africa during the next few years. You can see those events in the interactive map from Recorded Future below.
You can also hit the customize view filter in the top right of the visualization to adjust coloring of each bubble so that the organizations and companies related to each location are described. Leave us your thoughts or suggestions for other maps in the comments.
