Summary
CVE-2025-43857 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting the Net::IMAP library in Ruby, which is used for Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) client functionality. Malicious servers can send a manipulated "literal" byte count response, causing memory exhaustion in the client. This issue is particularly dangerous for insecure connections and untrusted or compromised servers. Net-imap versions prior to 0.5.7, 0.4.20, 0.3.9, and 0.2.5 are vulnerable. The vulnerability has been resolved in the aforementioned versions.
