Summary

CVE-2025-3058 is a vulnerability affecting the Xelion Webchat plugin for WordPress. The issue lies in the xwc_save_settings() function, which lacks sufficient capability checks. This oversight enables authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access or higher to modify arbitrary options on the WordPress site. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows the attacker to update the default role for new registrations to administrator and enable user registration, ultimately granting them administrative access to the vulnerable WordPress site.
