Summary
CVE-2025-29482 is a recently disclosed buffer overflow vulnerability that affects libheif version 1.19.7. This issue arises during the SAO (Sample Adaptive Offset) processing of libde265, a component of libheif. A local attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code, potentially leading to significant security risks. The vulnerability is located in the handling of input data during the SAO processing, enabling an attacker to write beyond the intended buffer boundary. Organizations using libheif version 1.19.7 are advised to update to a patched version as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
