Summary

CVE-2025-27408 is a vulnerability affecting Manifest's micro back end prior to version 4.9.2. The issue lies in Manifest's weak password hashing implementation that utilizes SHA3 without using a salt. This lack of salt makes user passwords more susceptible to cracking if an attacker gains unauthorized access to the database. Identical passwords among multiple users generate identical hashes, which can help attackers identify patterns and speed up the cracking process. Fortunately, this vulnerability is resolved in Manifest version 4.9.2.
