CVE-2025-25290 is a vulnerability affecting the '@octokit/request' library in versions prior to 9.2.1. The issue lies in the use of a regular expression in handling `link` headers in HTTP responses. This regex is susceptible to a ReDoS (Regular Expression Denial of Service) attack due to its unbounded matching behavior. Attackers can exploit this flaw by sending malicious `link` headers, leading to catastrophic backtracking and excessive CPU usage. As a result, server responsiveness is impacted, potentially causing service availability issues. The vulnerability is fixed in version 9.2.1.
