Summary
CVE-2025-25205 is a vulnerability affecting Audiobookshelf, a self-hosted audiobook and podcast server. In versions 2.17.0 and earlier, up until 2.19.1, an issue with the authentication bypass logic allows unauthenticated requests to bypass certain parts of the authentication process. This can be accomplished by using specific unanchored regex patterns in the URL, such as "/api/items/1/cover" in a query parameter (?r=/api/items/1/cover). Attackers can exploit this flaw to gain partial access to otherwise protected data, potentially resulting in information disclosure. Additionally, under certain routes, this could lead to a complete denial of service through server crashes. The vulnerability has been patched in version 2.19.1.
