Summary
CVE-2025-23028 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting various versions of Cilium, including 1.14.0 through 1.14.7, 1.15.0 through 1.15.11, and 1.16.0 through 1.16.4. In Kubernetes clusters where Cilium is configured to proxy DNS traffic, an attacker can send a specially crafted DNS response to cause Cilium agents to crash. This issue may disrupt new connections that rely on DNS resolution, but existing connections and configurations changes may still be applied once the affected agent is restarted. No workarounds are currently available, and the vulnerability is addressed in Cilium versions 1.14.18, 1.15.12, and 1.16.5.
