Summary
CVE-2025-23015 is a Privilege Escalation vulnerability affecting Apache Cassandra. Users with MODIFY permission on all keyspaces can exploit this vulnerability to escalate privileges to superuser within a targeted Cassandra cluster by performing unsafe actions on a system resource. This issue puts data at risk, and operators of affected versions (3.0.30, 3.11.17, 4.0.15, 4.1.7, and 5.0.2) must review data access rules for potential breaches. To mitigate this risk, users are advised to upgrade to the latest versions (3.0.31, 3.11.18, 4.0.16, 4.1.8, and 5.0.3), which address the vulnerability.
