CVE-2025-21963 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel's cifs subsystem. The issue arises from an integer overflow that occurs while processing the acdirmax mount option. This option, which is intended to have an upper limit in seconds, is converted to jiffies for processing without proper validation. This can lead to an integer overflow, potentially causing unintended behavior or system crashes. This vulnerability was discovered by the Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) and has since been resolved.
