Summary
CVE-2025-21962 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel's cifs (Common Internet File System) module. This issue arises due to an integer overflow while processing the closetimeo mount option. The closetimeo parameter, provided by users, is intended to have an upper limit in seconds. However, before its validation, the value is converted from seconds to jiffies, leading to an integer overflow. This flaw was discovered by the Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) and addressed with the help of SVACE.
