Summary
CVE-2025-21856 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel. The issue stems from the lack of a release function in the 's390/ism' driver, causing devices without such functions to be considered broken. Consequently, the kernel directly frees the device following device_add() without waiting for other parts to release their references. This may result in use-after-free scenarios if a proper release function is not implemented, leading to potential security vulnerabilities. The vulnerability has been resolved.
