Summary

CVE-2025-21218 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting the Windows Kerberos protocol. This issue enables an attacker to cause a Denial of Service condition by sending specially crafted packets to a targeted system. The vulnerability is exploited by causing the Kerberos Authentication Service to enter an infinite loop, leading to a consumption of significant system resources. The attacker can cause this effect remotely, potentially disrupting the availability of critical services and applications. Microsoft has released a patch to address this issue and it is recommended that users apply the update as soon as possible to mitigate the risk.
